Who we are

Meker Podcast is a space for honest, culturally grounded conversations about mental health in Ethiopian communities around the world.

Founded and hosted by Bethelheim Haileyesus, Meker Podcast amplifies the voices of Ethiopian mental health professionals, counselors, and community leaders. Through intimate interviews, we explore both the professional journeys of therapists and the personal, social, and spiritual dimensions of mental well-being in Ethiopian life.

Whether you’re navigating your own healing, supporting others, or just curious about how mental health intersects with culture, migration, and identity — this podcast is for you.

We believe in the power of stories to reduce stigma, inspire connection, and build culturally sensitive pathways to healing.

🎙 What You’ll Hear

  • Therapist interviews: their path into the field, challenges, and cultural insights

  • Mental health topics relevant to Ethiopian life (shame, family roles, migration, trauma)

  • Community voices and lived experiences

  • Practical tools for emotional wellness

  • "Meker" means advice in Amharic—a fitting name for a space where guidance, wisdom, and lived experience are shared with care and intention.
